Our Policies

This page contains summaries our essential patient and facility responsibility policies. They are meant as a general overview and may not represent the whole policy. Copies of whole policies can be obtained by getting in touch with us via any of our contact channels.

Resident Responsibilities

Alcohol Policy

We allow responsible drinking practices. A resident can supply their own alcoholic beverages and have a bar fridge for storing them in their room. We can also label drinks with a resident’s name to store in our fridges and serve them at times requested by the resident.
If alcohol poses a risk to the resident due to an adverse reaction with medication or other medical conditions then the resident’s GP can be consulted.
Algester Lodge only serves alcoholic drinks during special events such as parties only for residents that wish to have this kind of beverage and only if it is safe to do so.
Glass bottles are not recommended to be kept by residents. Canned alcohol is preferred or beverages in glass bottles can be decanted into plastic if they are to be kept by residents, for the safety of the resident and other residents.

For more information on our alcohol practices, please contact us.

Pets Policy

We encourage Relatives, Friends and Visitors to bring their pets to our facility as we recognise the benefit that pets can provide to a resident’s sense of wellbeing and physical health. If a pet is brought on-site the pet must be contained for the protection of residents, staff and visitors.
More information on the conditions and restrictions please contact us.

Smoking Policy

In order to provide a safe and healthy environment for residents, staff and visitors, we are a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not permitted in any part of the premises and within 5 meters of the boundary.

Vehicle Policy

We have on-site parking for private vehicles. Mobility scooters can be parked near facility entrances and must not be driven inside the facility without an exception. There is a facility-wide speed limit of 5km/h.
For more information on our vehicle policies, please contact us.

Visitation Policy

Our visitation hours are from 8AM to 8PM, although direct family members are generally welcome at any time. For more information on our visitor policy, please contact us.
